I was 21 when this went down and remember this clearly when it was in real time. Since I wasn’t heavily invested in drinking either product it didn’t matter much to me personally, however even after they brought back classic Coke, many people thought at the time that it tasted different from the “original” classic Coke that came before new Coke.

Another classic product called Spam did something similar coming out with Spam Lite. But after seeing the debacle around new Coke, made sure that consumers knew that the Original Spam was still available and wasn’t going away.
